ALC Adds Executive Assessment Services to Support Their Clients’ Hiring Process
ALC – industry leaders in assisting clients to attract and retain fee-earning leadership assessment and executive search professionals – is pleased to announce that they now offer multiple levels of executive assessment, supported by their recently appointed Head of Executive Assessment, Dr Lucy Rattrie.
Nick Workman, Managing Partner, says: “We are the only company in our sector globally to invest in an assessment practice. This allows our clients even further transparency on our candidates, as well as access to our assessment product and Chartered Psychologist should they wish to offer this as a service to their clients. We are absolutely delighted that Lucy has decided to join ALC, as her services further cement our leading position in our sector.”
Dr. Rattrie has 10 years’ experience in assessment, having provided consulting to clients globally. As a Chartered Psychologist, with a scholarship-funded PhD in International Executive Engagement, she is passionate about creating individual–organisational ‘fit’ and nurturing talent with performance-profiling tools. Dr. Rattrie is responsible for delivering detailed insights that mitigate risk and drive effectiveness. She has lived in Australia, America, France and Switzerland.
Dr. Rattrie states that: “Organisations everywhere are looking for better ways to recruit and retain good-quality people to drive effectiveness and performance in their business. To mitigate risk and maximise ROI, it’s advisable to use rigorous methods to learn as much as possible about the candidate, focusing on ‘why’ they behave a certain way: who they are, their values, motivators, talents, how they think and make decisions, react and respond. Such knowledge of the candidate is vital to making better hiring decisions, ensuring the right fit for the role and organisation. Much to the detriment of profit, past performance, references and CVs are unreliable methods of predicting future performance, having negative effects on a range of business outcomes, including retention, leadership, engagement and performance. As a result, understanding the candidate in depth is vital to making the right hiring decision.”
ALC’s assessment process was specifically designed to address this issue. The assessment tool used draws on over 30 years of experience in identifying what the industry regards as ‘Top Professional Talent’, combining this with the world’s most cutting-edge humanistic technology. This results in levels of knowledge about the applicant that are unachievable by any other means. This globally recognised process has been proven with tens of thousands of companies across more than 27 countries.
Dr. Rattrie is able to speak to clients in an advisory capacity regarding candidates, providing valuable insights specific to the role. She is also able to interview the candidate, using the results from the ALC assessment profile report to explore their capability to do the job; how they think and make decisions; how they handle challenges, respond to situations and react to stress; how they communicate with and lead others; their values, motivators and drivers; and their emotional intelligence and strengths (among other things, depending on the role requirements).
In essence, specific questions will be asked in order to explore the aforementioned points that emerge from client concerns about the candidate, and/or any warning signs emerging from the profile. This is excellent for getting to the heart of the person, discovering what is really going on, and evaluating their suitability for the role. Verbal feedback would be provided to the client, plus the detailed report itself (of about 50 pages), and a 3–4 page summary; this would include Lucy’s observations as a Chartered Psychologist.
Dr. Rattrie says: “I am really excited to be joining ALC and launching this service across their broad client base. ALC is widely recognised as the industry leader in their specific markets in the executive search industry. Their clients rely heavily on past revenue track records and professional references when making senior hires. Our product will allow ALC’s clients a far deeper understanding of the candidates and therefore improved hiring decisions.”
