Diversified Search Makes Appointment In Education & Not-For-Profit Practice
Executive search firm Diversified Search has announced that Kent John Chabotar, Ph.D., former president and professor of political science at Guilford College, has joined in its Education and Not-For-Profit Practice .
Serving over a decade as a chief financial officer, Dr Chabotar will also engage in selected searches for new CFOs.
Dr Chabotar retired from Guilford in June 2014 after a 12-year tenure. Since 1983, he has been a faculty member at the Harvard Institutes for Higher Education, including the Harvard Seminar for New Presidents, where he has taught about 10,000 senior and middle level officials. He also taught the Seminar for New Board Members at the National Conference for Trusteeship for over a decade.
With the addition of Dr Chabotar, Diversified Search has expanded its clientele search services to include optional strategic thinking workshops and coaching for new presidents.

From 1991 to 2002, Dr Chabotar was vice president for finance and administration and treasurer at Bowdoin College and senior lecturer in the Department of Government and Legal Studies. Previously, he was on the Faculty of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and held the positions of associate professor of management at the University of Massachusetts and assistant professor of political science and coordinator of public administration programs at Michigan State University. He received the Fussa Distinguished Teaching Award at Harvard and the Distinguished Educator Award for teaching excellence at Michigan State University.
Dr Chabotar has consulted with private and public colleges and universities on issues such as strategic planning, financial decision-making, retrenchment and renewal, executive evaluation and search, and presidential coaching. He is the author of books, monographs and articles and is a speaker at conferences and events. He earned his B.A. in Political Science, magna cum laude, from St. Francis University and his M.P.A. with distinction and his Ph.D. in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship at Syracuse University.
