Dr. Fogel retired from his position at the University in 2011.
Prior to his tenure there, Dr. Fogel was the executive vice chancellor and provost at Louisiana State University (LSU). He has also served as president of the New England Association of Colleges and Schools and as chair of the Board of the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities. Dr. Fogel holds a tenured professorship in English at the University of Vermont and retains professor emeritus status at LSU. He was the founding editor of The Henry James Review and a co-founder of the Henry James Society.
“Dr. Fogel has an invaluable first-hand understanding of the skills necessary to operate an institute of higher education successfully, as well as of the myriad of issues tied to transitioning university and college presidents,” said Charles (Chuck) W. B. Wardell III, president and CEO of Witt/Kieffer. “We are thrilled that Dr. Fogel has joined our Education Leadership Council and that he will now be able to use his wealth of knowledge to advise our higher education and not-for-profit clients as they search for new leadership.”
Members of the Witt/Kieffer Education Leadership Council (ELC) are former college and university presidents who understand the enormous responsibility facing boards and search committees as they select a new leader. ELC members provide expert counsel from the perspective of the experienced leader to help colleges, universities and not-for-profit institutions identify and develop presidential leadership. They advise trustees on a wide range of issues such as administration, faculty and student involvement in presidential searches; identification and evaluation of candidates and successful transfer of leadership.
